UQESH® Bio-Based Polyurethane Coating

Breakthrough for Sustainable Industrial Flooring: UQESH® System PF Now Published in Byggvarubedömningen (BVB)

After intensive, long-term work with Byggvarubedömningen (BVB), we've reached an important milestone.

We're pleased to announce that our UQESH® PF system is now officially published and assessed in BVB (Byggvarubedömningen), Sweden's leading building-materials assessment database.

Taking a high-performance, waterborne and bio-based polyurethane system all the way through BVB's strict chemical and environmental review has demanded great precision and extensive testing. It shows that extreme mechanical performance for industrial use can be combined with future-proof environmental requirements.

The PF system is developed for heavy industry, food environments and demanding indoor spaces. Publication in Byggvarubedömningen now makes it even easier for architects, engineers and environmental building coordinators to specify the system in projects with high sustainability goals such as Miljöbyggnad, BREEAM-SE and the EU Taxonomy.

BVB Summary

How System PF's Four Components Are Assessed

System PF (UQESH® PF) is a bio-based, waterborne 4-component system. All four components are registered and assessed in Byggvarubedömningen.

ComponentBVB IDAssessment
UQESH® PF PART A – waterborne polyurethane coating205793Accepted
UQESH® IF/PF PART B – hardener205794Avoided
UQESH® PF PART C – cement/filler205796Accepted
UQESH® PART D General – pigment205798Accepted

The “Avoided” classification for Part B applies to the product in its delivered, uncured form – the hardener contains isocyanates that are technically necessary for the polyurethane reaction. When mixed with components A, C and D, the isocyanates are fully bound into an inert polymer matrix. Independent testing carried out by SGS (report CANPC26011809903, per ISO 10283:2007) confirms that no detectable levels of TDI or HDI remain in the cured matrix (< 0,01 % w/w). The finished floor surface therefore does not give rise to free isocyanates and does not constitute hazardous waste at demolition or removal – the classification is limited to the working environment during the application stage itself.

Environmental Performance

Emissions Data and Certifications

The system's emissions reports meet the requirements for “Recommended” as well as the highest environmental class, French A+.

French A+ (threshold)UQESH® result
TVOC emissions (28 days)1 000 µg/m³31 µg/m³
Formaldehyde< 60 µg/m³Not detectable
Acetaldehyde–Not detectable
CMR substances (category 1A/1B)< 1 µg/m³Not detectable

In addition, System PF meets several gold and bronze ratings within Miljöbyggnad (indicators 9, 13, 14 and 15 across versions 2.1/2.2, 3.0/3.1/3.2 and 4.0/4.1), Exemplary level for Mat07, and the requirements for Mat08 (BREEAM-SE) for components A, C and D, as well as the criteria of the EU Taxonomy's Appendix C – meaning the system is classified as sustainable and aligned with the EU's sustainability goals.
